Passports can take a while to obtain, apply early. For passport information please Click Here. You can obtain your Tourist, Multi-Entry, eVisa prior to travel or obtain as you enter the country for $100. Make sure your passport doesn't expire within 6 months prior to your travel date. A tip for all those world travelers - Make sure you have one full page available for your Visa stamp. 

Tickets are going to be you biggest expense. Once in Country - Hotel, food and transportation will be much less.

Ticket prices vary depending on the season and the month. The cheapest time of year to travel is March - May. But keep in mind this is the rainy season in TZ. 

Check with your airline. Most luggage has to be under 50 lbs. Yes, you should weigh it before you go. Yes they will make you take things out of your suitcase if you don't want to pay extra. 

Read up on all the health information regarding Tanzania. Some travelers prefer to take Malaria prevention tablets and bring prescriptions for nausea or antibiotics, just in case. Currently no vaccines are required when traveling from the U.S. Yellow Fever Vaccine is required if traveling from a country where yellow fever is a risk, such as Kenya. 

CDC Recommendations. You can also call your primary doctor, local travel clinic, or health department for pre-travel advice, medications, or vaccinations. 

Bring newer, crisp, cash bills. Currency can be exchanged for Shillings in country for better rates. Not all places take credit cards and ATMs are limited. Notify your credit card company you will be traveling. 

Check that you have your passport, printed eVisa, cash, medications, and other personal items. 

Everything else you can find in country, if needed.
